It was a cruel joke I played on myself when I plannned to return from our BC road trip 11 hours before my Monday morning began. But, that’s ok. First-world problem, right? It’s not hitting me as hard as the return to winter is hitting me. The -24°/-11.2°F temperatures I woke up to were not awesome. But, I’m battling my winter depression by completing the planning of my garden (which is still under at least two feet of snow) and browsing the seed catalogue at William Dam Seeds. My Aunt Joanne reminded me that it is where my grandfather, my dad’s dad, used to order from. I knew this, but it hadn’t crossed my mind, and I’m so glad she reminded me. I’ll post more about it when I’ve finished planning/ordering.
It was bittersweet coming home. We all missed Noah, so it was a relief to come home to him, but getting back into the routine of daily life is going to be a little rough for the first few days. Especially since I haven’t fully unpacked the van yet. I guess my one bit of grace in this is that I did all our laundry before leaving my parents’ place, so at least we all have clean clothes. And Noah had the foresight to get supplies for the girls’ lunches today, which is beyond fantastic.
The main purpose of our trip to Terrace was to see my Grandma and my parents. The added bonus was all the friends and family we got to see as well. Our days were full to the brim with visiting, and we went to bed exhausted every night, but it was awesome. We didn’t get to see everyone we wanted to see, but, as Liliana says, that’s just how the life goes.
Before I post all about it, and post all the photos that I know certain people want to see, I need to unpack and clean my cesspool of a van and get some groceries in the house and deal with my inbox and have some coffee. And I need to run, because before we left I was running four days a week and eating healthy and while we were away I ate crap and ran only a few times, and I have a 10k to run in two weeks and I’m freaking out about it a little bit.
Wish me luck. And warmth. And endurance.
