Sunday was a bit nutty. In the morning I ran in the Saskatchewan Marathon with my friend Kami (we did 10k, not 42.2k), and right afterwards we met up with Ronan and his family for the Great Strides Walk.
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but Ronan has Cystic Fibrosis. CF is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. There is no cure.
Preston and Ronan sat in the wagon in the rain the whole hour we were walking. They didn’t complain once. I was really impressed by them.
The Great Strides Walk is a 5k walk, not a race, but Liliana and her new friend Kayla ran ahead and got to the end before anyone else. Liliana was STOKED that she was first. She made sure everyone knew that SHE GOT FIRST PLACE.
Also at the finish line? Batman, Ridler, Indiana Jones, and Elsa & Anna. There were a few others, but I don’t remember them. Anyway, Liliana saw Elsa & Anna and lost her mind. Completely. She was SO EXCITED. Preston was excited about seeing Elsa & Anna as well, but he was more interested in Batman.
The joy on her face when she got to be in a photo with them? SO MUCH JOY. She complimented them on their performance in the movie and asked when they were going to make a new movie. As we walked back inside, Liliana wondered if they had a younger sister, and maybe her super power would be fire. She brought this up with Elsa & Anna when they came inside, but they told her that maybe fire would be a bit worse than ice. They were so kind to her, answering all her questions and going along with the whole they-are-the-real-Elsa-and-Anna thing.
She also asked them when they were going to make their next movie and told them their hair was beautiful. She said to them them how growing up in a castle must have been awesome. She kept saying, “They’re the real Elsa & Anna! I can’t believe it! THEY ARE THE REAL ELSA & ANNA!”
I love Liliana for her zest for life. She’s a unique one, that kid.
