I had a few resolutions last year, one of which has been my resolution for the past three years. The first resolution was to be Walmart-free. I only went five (or six?) times in 2014 so I’m calling that a success.
The second resolution was to read 52 books in the year. I’ve been aiming for that since 2012, but mainly I just want to read more. Fifty-two is a goal. I read 21 in 2012 and again in 2013, but my 2014 list was far smaller, only 13. Why? Because I added a clause; I had to read only books I’d never read yet. I couldn’t do it. I missed my old stand-bys too much. I missed Harry Potter and I missed the characters of Rainbow Rowell (who, thankfully, put out a new book in 2014)(well, two new ones, the latter of which is a collaboration I have not read yet)(I KNOW).
I gave up by the end of the year and read a few re-reads because I wanted to. I’m not putting any restrictions or expectations on the type of books I read this year. I’m reading whatever I want, okay?! I’ve been keeping track of my books up top under Book List, if you’re interested.
Another resolution this year, besides avoiding Walmart and reading more, is to not blow up any social media profiles. Or blogs. I’m bad for that. I’m switching everything back over to jenwilson.ca in the next few days, but that’s going back to something, so that doesn’t count, right?! Ok then.
All this is to say, Happy New Year! I hope 2015 brings us all more love, more joy, and more laughter.
