wanna have a bath?

Um, not with me. That’s not where I’m going with this. Maybe I should change the title. Or maybe not. Stay with me.

I just had my first bath in six years. SIX YEARS! I’m not exactly sure why it’s been so long. Kaylie and I once lived in a place that had two bathrooms (I miss those days), but the one that was the ensuite to my room only had a (rather large) bathtub (and the other bathroom with the shower was WAY on the other side of the house – and my roommate had taken it over) so we’d just bathe together in the ensuite tub.

I can’t remember having a bath after we lived in that place. Maybe I was over-saturated (hee!) with the whole having to have a bath thing and soaked up (haa! the puns!) the pleasure of actually being able to have a shower. I don’t know.

Tonight it was in my therapy “homework”. To do my homework in the bath – a supposed “relaxing” environment. You know what? It wasn’t so bad. Noah actually laughed when he came home to the sight of me in the tub. He’s never seen me in there before. I’m thinking of making a few suggestions in the suggestion box though.

(a) There should be some sort of bath “pillow”. What’s that? There already is such a thing? Dang. I gotta get me one of those. (b) The bottom of the bath shouldn’t be so slippery. Oh? There’s a remedy for that too? Hm. Who knew. (c) The bottom of the tub should also be a little softer. Is there something for that yet? If there is, let me know. I might be interested.

I don’t know if I’m going to go the way of bath salts or bubble bath or anything that you hardcore bathers do, but I might just have one of those bath things a little more often. It’s like a little mini hot tub! My husband laughed when I told him that as I was drying off. Apparently this is a well-known fact. Well, not to this I-haven’t-bathed-in-six-years girl!

I’m thinking that next time maybe I’ll add a face mask. Or some unscented candles. (Scents drive me insane. And also drive me through three boxes of kleenex.) I’m also thinking that I should install a TV in my bathroom. Or maybe create a protective bubble for my laptop so I can read blogs in the bathtub. The whole bath thing is opening up a whole new world to me.

Maybe you guys can help me out. What do you do in the bath? (Clean stories, people.) What do you take with you in there? (What, not who.) I’d really like to know.

For (1), roll up a towel and use that as a pillow. For (2) and (3), line the bottom of the tub with another towel.

I love to read in the tub. Yes, I am in danger of dropping the book in the bath, so I try to read cheap paperbacks I don’t really care about getting wet. Or a magazine.

If you don’t want to do fancy-schmancy bubbles and stuff, you can just pour a couple slugs of olive oil in the bathwater. It’s not too smelly and it gets your skin all soft.

I don’t take a bath very often unless I have sore muscles, but when I do I really like to read in there – usually a magazine so it doesn’t matter if it gets wet. I’ve also been known to take a glass of wine with me, but it’s harder these days because even when I do get a bath in, I don’t usually have enough time to just lie there for half an hour.

I LOVE baths and “invested” in a bath pillow – SO worth it. I just listen to music and sometimes read a book or mag but that takes a bit of talent ;) I only last 20-30 minutes but I love it.

I’m not a big scent person but I do like essential oils like lavender…a few drops in the bath can really set the mood for relaxation.

I used to love baths but I have had one bath since we lived in this house while I was pregnant with Josie. I want a soaker tub so badly. I’m tired of water that barely reaches my belly button and a backache from leaning against the edge of the tub.

I always bathe at my mom’s house because she has a soaker tub and like Amy, always put in a few drops of lavender oil.

Did you know you can buy a mat for the bottom of the tub that makes it softer and turns it into a jet tub? Well, you can.

    Happy bathing!

I read. Usually for so long that I have to add extra hot water.
I like to take a cold drink (be it beer or water), to have a cool sip once in awhile.
I’ve also been known to pu tmy laptop on the (closed) toilet seat and watch part of a movie :D

The very few times I take baths I usually prop my laptop on the toilet (lid down of course), and watch episodes of Buffy and Angel ^_^

I love taking baths and miss them right now while I’m pregnant (not allowed to have the water hot enough for my comfort). I think a super hot bath is the best way to warm up from a winter chill. I too like to read, and have also been guilty of watching the laptop on the toilet. NOt sure about actually checking blogs though…

I love baths- they are a rare treat! I do the same thing as your first reader, with the towels. Works for me, and makes it comfy :)

I don’t regularly take baths…but with that laptop on the toilet idea, I just might! And way too much info about where you were talking to your husband!!! :)

I rarely bath since I can never get comfortable and kind of hate seeing my limp boobies draped over the side of my body through the bubbles. Maybe if I had a really big tub with jets or something. I don’t know.
PS: In your last post you mentioned M&M stuffed potatoes and until I clicked on the link I thought you put chocolate M&Ms on your baked potatoes and I was like, “THIS is why we get along so well.” :)

I use hand towels for my pillow and bottom softener. And I bring an unread magazine and a box of chocolates. I like the lighting to be dimmed a little. And I love bubbles!
